Do I need to have a diagnosis of ADHD or autism
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to access counselling. Many people seek support because they recognise traits of ADHD, autism or other forms of neurodivergence, are waiting for an assessment, or simply want a space to better understand themselves.

What happens during the free 20-minute introductory call?
The introductory telephone call gives us an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and decide whether I am the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to continue after the call.
What happens in the first counselling session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship. We'll explore what has brought you to counselling, discuss your goals, review the counselling agreement, and ensure you feel comfortable asking any questions.
How long are counselling sessions?
Counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly to provide consistency and continuity.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. I offer secure online counselling throughout the UK, as well as telephone counselling if that feels more comfortable or accessible for you.
Do you offer face-to-face counselling?
Yes. Face-to-face counselling is available in Portsmouth by appointment.
How do I pay?
Payment is required 24 hours before your appointment and can be made securely by bank transfer.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please provide at least 12 hours' notice where possible. Full details can be found in the counselling agreement provided before your first session.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed in counselling is treated confidentially in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and data protection legislation. The only exceptions are where there are serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, or where disclosure is required by law. These limits will be explained before counselling begins.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people benefit from short-term counselling, while others choose longer-term support. We will regularly review how therapy is progressing and work together to decide what feels most helpful.
